Hot-Rolled Steel:
Hot-Rolled steel sheet is your basic form of carbon steel. It is produced from the hot strip mill to the ordered thickness then temper passed or tension leveled which helps it become free of coil breaks. Hot-Rolled steel typically has mill scale and is suitable for forming applications. Our Hot-Rolled Steel conforms to ASTM A1011.

Pickled & Oiled Steel:
Pickled & Oiled steel sheet (often referred to as P&O) is a process in which hot-rolled steel is pickled in a sulfuric or hydrochloric acid bath to remove mill scale from the surface. The steel then goes through an application of applying oil to the surface to prevent short term rusting. Major uses of P&O sheet include metal stamping, die forming, laser cutting, and it is suitable for painting. Our Pickled & Oiled steel conforms to ASTM A1011.

Cold-Rolled Steel:
Cold-Rolled steel sheet is processed for an increased surface quality over P&O. When produced, cold-rolled steel usually has a greater thickness tolerance as well as surface quality. Our steel is oiled which prevents rust and makes it suitable for stamping and painting. Cold-Rolled steel also has great formability which allows it to be used for a multitude of applications. Our Cold-Rolled steel conforms to ASTM A1008.

Galvanized Steel:
Steel coils are dipped in a zinc bath to coat the base material for corrosion-resistance. When determining the coating weight, it is important to factor in the type of environment the steel sheet will be in. Much like coating weight, galvanized steel can be ordered with different surface treatments including a chem. treat or non-chem treat in dry or oiled and we also stock ROHS Compliant material. The finish is typically determined by the spangle on the galvanized. Much like cold-rolled sheet, galvanized sheet can be used for several different applications. It also has great formability. Galvanized steel can be Phosphatized/Bonderized which gives the base material the same corrosion resistance and formability, but allows it to be more suitable for painting. It should be noted that white rust can easily set in on phosphatized steel due to the lack of surface treatment. Our Galvanized steel conforms to ASTM A653.

Galvannealed Steel:
Galvannealed is a non-spangled (matte finish surface) zinc coating that is not bonderized but is suitable for painting. Much like galvanized it is corrosion resistant but is usually assigned with an “A” designation for the coating weight. There are many applications for galvannealed but it should be noted that the zinc may powder at the angle of bend when forming. Our Galvannealed steel conforms to ASTM A653.

Galvalume Steel:
Galvalume is a continuously hot dipped aluminum-zinc alloy coated steel sheet. An AZ55 coating has improved corrosion resistance over a G90 galvanized steel sheet under normal atmospheric exposure. It also is heat resistant and can resist extreme temperatures without discoloration. It is suitable for automotive, roofing, siding, appliances, and gutters to name a few. We sell bare, acrylic galvalume that conforms to ASTM A792.

Electro-Galvanized Steel:
Electro-Galvanized (EG) steel sheet is a zinc coating process in which the zinc is adhered to the base metal through electro disposition. Much like other coated products the steel is corrosion resistant. There is no spangle and a dull finish which provides for superior paintablity. EG also has excellent formability. Our EG conforms to ASTM A879.
